Lancaster Avenue Student Housing, Villanova University | Villanova, Pennsylvania
In an effort to provide increased opportunities for on-campus housing for their existing student body and to improve campus presence along Lancaster Avenue, the University initiated the transformation of a large unsightly parking lot into a student housing and performing arts complex. Extending the campus aesthetic and character, new dormitories and retail will be joined by interconnected courtyards, arcades, and cloisters. Designed to be LEED certified, the project incorporates stormwater management and other improvements to provide an environmental benefit to the surrounding area. Extensive landscaping on both sides of Lancaster Avenue and a pedestrian bridge will connect across this busy connecting route. With the completion of this project, the University will be able to provide on-campus housing for 85% of its students, thereby enhancing the ethos of the campus community and reducing traffic to and from campus.
Projected additional beds: 1,160
