College of Business and Public Management, West Chester University | West Chester, Pennsylvania
The Business & Public Management Center looks to both the past, present, and future through mindful interpretation. A campus characterized by early and mid-century Collegiate Gothic, the exterior façade reflects upon this language of pointed arches and buttresses. A long, rectilinear form, the façade conveys interior arrangement and hierarchies of space. An expressive stone entry arcade beckons passerby, through which a glass curtain wall and entry reveal the interior beyond. The interior sparks with kinetic energy imbued by a real-time stock index, contemporary finishes, and classrooms taking full advantage of innovative technologies. Faculty offices border the perimeter of the upper levels, creating warm and personal spaces to mentor, teach, and write. Despite a diametric fusing of styles, the traditional façade and contemporary interior collaborate to create a learning space which is rooted in tradition and looking forward in innovation.
