Abbott Dining Hall, The Lawrenceville School | Lawrenceville, NJ
The reimagined 1960’s-era dining hall at The Lawrenceville School will promote camaraderie and strengthen school pride. Responding to the style of the adjacent Upper House dorm and other Peabody & Sterns architecture around the historic circle at the entrance to campus, the reconfiguration blends seamlessly into the Lawrenceville aesthetic with its new brick facades and newly installed pitched slate roof. The enlarged terrace provides new outdoor seating options for mealtime and special events. Inside, The dining hall has custom white oak furniture and booth seating under high ceilings supported by new glulam hammer beam tresses. New paneling, terrazzo flooring and overscaled fireplaces complete the vision. The kitchen and serveries have been completely redesigned as well. With its memorabilia-lined entry hallway, lounge, and private dining areas, the hall was conceived as an exclusive space for proud seniors to socialize, dine, and reflect fondly on their years at Lawrenceville.
