Germantown Friends School Campus Common | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
During a master plan review of campus, the School highlighted an urgent priority to provide more green spaces in their already built-up campus core. After 13 years of discussion and planning, existing hardscapes, parking, and drop-off areas were transformed into a central plaza of softscape greens crisscrossed by connecting paths, indigenous blooming flowers, and an allée of Princton Elm trees. The end result not only rendered the campus more pleasing and environmentally conscious but safer with clearer routes of circulation for parent drop-off and parking. Most important, the students and the student experience once again became the heart of the school.
