Benjamin Darby

Designer

Ben first joined VMA as a summer intern in 2024 and returned as a designer in July of 2025 after earning a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Miami School of Architecture. At the University of Miami, Ben spent three years as a Teaching Assistant, supporting design studio faculty and students while furthering his own understanding of the profession. He brings a highly creative background to his architectural work, with training in a variety of media including painting, classical figure drawing, graphic design, and wheel-thrown ceramics. His love for design lies in the details, and he feels a strong connection to the principles of the 20th Century Arts and Crafts Architects.

Outside of work Ben is very involved in the arts and enjoys exploring anything that allows him to be creative, both through learning and hands-on engagement. His wide-ranging interests continue to inspire the way he approaches design, bringing imagination and a personal touch to every project. He loves to listen to post-rock and post-punk while drafting and can be seen nodding his head with his headphones on throughout the day.
