2116 Chestnut Street
John Buck Company | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Developed as a luxury, multi-family housing rental property for young professionals, the 34-story residential tower of 2116 Chestnut manages to reference contemporary international urban architecture without overpowering the existing neighborhood fabric by being respectful of the height of the podium and the tower set-back
Working as a consultant to architect of record HPA, Ltd., VMA developed the design, detailing, and furnishings for the entrance lobby, elevator lobbies, and resident amenity spaces, which include the club room, party room, TV/movie lounge, business center, and workout and fitness/yoga rooms. VMA also assisted with the Historic Commission approvals, building massing studies, and other zoning and regulatory issues.
VMA established views from the workout and club rooms on the fifth floor to give the impression of a green oasis surrounded by the spectacular city skyline beyond. As the tower steps back from the fifth floor, VMA also established an outdoor rooftop terrace with a garden, a bar, and a dedicated sunning space and hot tub, all of which would create a sense of intimacy and elegance at the same time taking advantage of the height and cityscape.
