2401 Walnut Street Studio
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Housed in a 1920’s former industrial building in Philadelphia, the 2401 Walnut Street studio was envisioned as a light-filled office that would both meet practical needs and showcase the amazing panorama around it to visiting clients and guests.
VMA elected to maximize daylight and vistas of the Schuylkill River and Center City Philadelphia. desks are strategically kept away from windows to allow circulation and an overall flow within the office. In addition, an open floor plan was selected to create transparency, counterbalanced by the acoustical wall and ceiling treatment which make the space quiet enough for concentration.
Careful organization now allows for dispersed leadership, a hierarchy of meeting places, informal collaboration spaces, and a “home-like” kitchen and library that affords equality of access to views for all employees. Additional areas include a model shop, interior design materials library, and smaller meeting pods for private conversations.
