Arts and Crafts Cottage Renovation
Our clients won the bid for this historic house in Swarthmore by writing the owners a poem about what the place would mean to them and how much they would love it. And love it they did. They poured their energy into renovation and restoration, improving the beautiful Arts and Crafts house and collecting furniture and fabrics appropriate to it.
The first floor had a doctor’s office suite and a cramped kitchen. This area was converted into a gracious open kitchen and a family room with a breakfast nook and office area. A twenty square foot addition was necessary to accommodate part of the kitchen cabinetry. A mudroom and powder room adjacent to a new garden/garage entrance toward the back of the house was created out of what had been the kitchen. On the second floor we created a master suite with a tiny, but beautiful bath and closets. The hall bath was also renovated. The final result was a house that was comfortable and inspiring for a growing family of four.
