College of Business & Public Management Center

West Chester University | West Chester, Pennsylvania

In planning its new Business College, West Chester University sought a classic yet innovative design that would fuse old and new and drive the idea of the college as a dynamic social area and center for student/teacher engagement. As one of several collaborations between West Chester University and VMA, architect of record in collaboration with Moody Nolan, Inc., this project was planned to reflect the visual language of the university’s Collegiate Gothic architecture.

Double-pointed archways frame the entrance. A two-story central bay and buttresses continue the gothic touch. The traditional narrative is then complimented by contemporary features such as an inset glass framed entrance and a three story glass bay framing the elegant central staircase. Interior features of the building include breakout work spaces in hallways, communal classroom seating, offices for the entire faculty and administration, and a welcoming lobby complete with cozy lounge seating.
