Elementary & Middle School
Gwynedd Mercy Academy | Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania
A strategic plan undertaken by Gwynedd Mercy Academy identified the need for smaller class sizes, consolidated fine arts offerings, a better science lab, and a self-contained academic wing for grades 6-8. To achieve these goals, VMA elected to repurpose the existing Elementary School and designed an addition to house the Middle School and arts programs, a plan that would work in harmony and complement the existing school buildings.
Interiors throughout are bright, with high ceilings, light finishes, and extensive windows. Technology is integrated into the classrooms, which encourages creativity and innovation while allowing teachers to adapt their lessons according to individual student needs. The Elementary School renovation also included an expanded cafeteria, offices, work areas for faculty and staff, and improved accessibility.
