As part of an effort to assess the school’s strengths and weaknesses, VMA designed a comprehensive campus plan that included a conditions assessment of buildings and the outdoor spaces.

We generated a series of space-utilization matrices to analyze data important for identifying and prioritizing potential improvements. Two sets of ideas were developed: small-scale renovations to address to the School’s most pressing needs, and larger, more intensive projects to help the School achieve long-term goals. These included a new athletic facility and fields, a relocated science building to take advantage of their stream, and a consolidated arts facility.

In one year, VMA was able to, design, and execute more than half of the small-scale renovation projects identified in the plan. These included reconfiguring spaces in the Lower School, installing custom cubbies and storage cabinets for the Middle School, and renovating the Junior High locker areas and science classroom.
