Koenigsberger Hall
Millbrook School | Millbrook, New York
Anchoring the west end of the core campus at Millbrook School, the Koenigsberger Hall dormitory represents a complete re-thinking of what residential life means for the boarding school and how it should be accommodated. Thought and care have been given to the design of little things that make life easy: large mud rooms for the ubiquitous Hunter Boots, bathrooms that have iPod docking, and rooms with ample storage and large windows. Double rooms feature trundles to accommodate day students for special overnights. All faculty apartments are buffered by a private study which simultaneously provides easy access to the students and halls. Two of the four faculty apartments open to garden spaces, designed with young growing families in mind. The dorm recalls the quiet Georgian style of the other dorms on campus and above all, has become a comfortable home to its wide variety of inhabitants.
