Phased Classroom Expansion
The Miquon School | Conshohocken, Pennsylvania
Miquon has retained its agrarian intimacy since 1932, characterized by lush wooded grounds, a meandering stream, and discrete buildings for each grade pre-K through 6th. The campus conveys a sense of joy, playfulness and connection with nature through its child-centered facilities. The school sought a comprehensive plan to guide an expansion of their facilities under challenging site conditions while maintaining the campus’s unique character.
We proposed a ten-year plan that included new buildings for the arts, the library, and more; site improvements to paths, lighting, and storm water management; significantly enhanced pedestrian and vehicular access; and strategic renovations to existing facilities. We identified by-right opportunities to expand existing footprints, and to create new space by installing lofts for reading and small group teaching within the existing classrooms.
