Mount Saint Joseph Academy | Flourtown, Pennsylvania
After Mount Saint Joseph Academy identified a need for improved and expanded facilities for arts education and athletics, VMA completed a feasibility study that addressed how to efficiently achieve these enhancements before working with the school on its implementation.
An addition to their existing arts facilities provided enhanced creative opportunities to the school’s students. It includes a kiln room and two art studios, each with a pitched roof and ample natural north-facing light. Benches along the windows of the studios serve the dual function of supplemental seating and cover for heating elements. The existing art space was converted to a computer lab, a classroom, office space, and much needed storage for arts materials. The extension of the existing corridor to the addition is lined with pin up space for display of artwork. Smart boards were installed in the studios and classrooms, with custom casework designed to accommodate computer storage and art materials.
