Phased Guestroom Renovations
The Yale Club of New York City | New York, New York
Our partnership with The Yale Club of New York, originally designed by James Gamble Rogers, largely focused on the guest room floors that support overnight visitors to the private club. It comprised a phased renovation which reworked the bathrooms and the suite configurations and generally updated the interior spaces with fresh finishes and furniture.
The goal was to convey a sense of a sophisticated city club while paying special attention to the needs of women and the younger guests.
The halls were upgraded through new wall covering, custom carpeting and the complete replacement of all the doors which now have raised panels in walnut. In addition modern standards for life safety, temperature control, and ADA compliance have been met.
The color palette throughout draws heavily upon “Yale blue,” balanced with neutrals and frequent use of the Yale Club logo. Fun details include a depiction of a bulldog, Yale’s mascot, dressed in top hat and tails on the guestroom bolster pillows and club branding even on the door knobs.
In addition to ten floors of guest rooms, the clubhouse features a full range of amenities including a fitness center, squash courts, weight rooms, dining venues, banqueting facilities, and lounges. During the course of the project, which was phased over many years to reduce the impact on their operations, we were also asked to assist with the renovation of their historic library.
